Kennan E. Kaeder

ACHIEVEMENT


Kennan attended California Western School of Law in San Diego where he was invited to write for the International Law Review, earned the faculty award for advanced trial advocacy, graduated in 1981 in the top 25% of his class and passed the California Bar Exam on the first attempt. During law school Kennan was a law clerk for the criminal division of the United States Attorney's office in San Diego as well as two San Diego County Superior Court judges. Kennan opened his private law practice in August 1982 and has been continuously in private practice ever since. 


During the past 35 years Kennan has formed over 1,000 businesses for San Diego based clients, including corporations, limited liability companies and general and limited partnerships. This also includes extensive experience with navigating the state and federal securities laws having authored about 40 public and private securities offerings.


He has also accumulated extensive litigation experience having tried nearly 200 cases in jury trials, court trials and arbitrations with a 95% success rate. These cases include securities fraud, business litigation, personal injury and wrongful death, including seven figure verdicts and settlements. Throughout his career Kennan has won lawsuits against every major law firm in San Diego.


Kennan has also led continuing education seminars for over 10, 000 people for  Landmark Education between 1983 and 1998 and is a former Chair of the San Diego County Democratic Party.


 BACKGROUND

Kennan was born on June 19, 1954 in Stillwater, Minnesota into a devoutly Catholic family that would eventually include seven children. He was raised with solid Mid-Western values of loyalty, fidelity of purpose, hard work and devotion to the well being others that he brings to his professional practice. 


Ke​nnan graduated from Stillwater Area High School in in Minnesota in 1972 with honors where he was captain of the debate team and placed third overall in the Minnesota State High School Debating Championship. He went on to obtain a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Minnesota where he was a reporter,  editorial writer and editor on the largest student newspaper in the country at the time, the Minnesota Daily with a readership of 65,000, and graduated with majors in journalism, English and political science. 


Kennan is devoted to physical fitness, loves sailing on San Diego Bay and currently lives in downtown San Diego, California with his rescue dog Lucky.
